Mladi levi | Robertina Šebjanič: ECHOES FROM THE ABYSS
installation
Echoes from the Abyss brings together two research residencies – in the Baltic and the Adriatic – where Slovene intermedia artist Robertina Šebjanič, alongside various experts (ranging from marine biologists to specialised police diving units), investigated the environmental consequences of weapons dumped into the sea.
The installation, which receives the Award of Distinction in the Interactive Art+ category at this year’s Ars Electronica festival, explores the complex relationships between history, marine ecosystems, geopolitics, and human impacts on the environment.
Tina Dolinšek will lead four guided tours through a map of contaminated underwater zones that represent both slow violence as well as spaces of memory.
